Thousands of tradesmen find construction work in the UAE every year. The process is simple when you know the steps and apply directly with a licensed company.
1. Prepare your documents
- Passport valid for at least six months
- A short CV with your trade, years of experience and countries worked in
- Passport-size photos with a white background
- Trade certificates and experience letters from past employers
- Photos or short videos of your work on site
2. Apply directly with a licensed company
Check that the company has a valid UAE trade licence. Licensed employers can show their licence number, and many publish it on their website. Apply directly instead of through unknown middlemen.
3. Trade test or interview
Most construction employers test your skill on site or ask about your past projects. Be ready to show how you read drawings, use tools and work safely.
4. Offer letter and visa
After selection you receive an offer letter. The employer arranges your work permit and residence visa. You then complete a medical fitness test and register for your Emirates ID.
5. Start work
On your first day you attend the site induction and receive your PPE. Keep copies of your contract and visa documents.
