Welder jobs in UAE – 6G certificates, roles and how to apply

Welders work in structural steel, piping, MEP and maintenance. Contractors usually hire against a specific process and position, so knowing your certifications helps you find the right job.

Common processes

• SMAW (stick) for structural and site work
• GMAW / MIG for fabrication shops
• GTAW / TIG for stainless steel and pipe root passes

Positions and certificates

Welding positions are tested from 1G to 6G. A 6G pipe certificate covers the most demanding position. Structural projects commonly reference AWS D1.1, and pressure piping projects reference ASME Section IX.

Safety

Hot work needs a permit on most sites, with proper eye and face protection, fire-resistant clothing and a fire watch where required.
